B2B Journalist of the Year
WINNER: DANIEL GROTE, NEW MODEL ADVISER
This category saw a strong line-up of contenders confirmed by the scores awarded to each name on the shortlist after the initial judging phase. Indeed, in an average year it would have been entirely possible for any one of the contenders on show to have eventually lifted the trophy. But, as we know, 2019 was very much the year of the ‘Woodford saga’ and the judges decided that New Model Adviser’s Daniel Grote did more than enough to lift the spoils in this category.
“Daniel was a leader in that field all last year and, in this submission, he’s provided a hat-trick of rattlingly good exclusives,” one judge remarked. “Daniel’s reporting on Woodford broke new ground. He’s also got a good technical grasp of what are sometimes complicated subjects. Add to that a strong book of sources who know what’s been going on in a troubled part of the financial services industry and he’s the ideal candidate to win this award aimed at a professional audience,” another judge said.
