Freelance Journalist of the Year

Marc Shoffman collects his Award from Head of PR & Communications at Scottish Friendly Kevin Brown and Awards Host Marcus Brigstocke

WINNER: MARC SHOFFMAN

With so many freelancers this is always a competitive category to win but, from the first round of scoring one name stood out and continued to do so during the second phase of decision-making.

Judges unanimously agreed that Marc Shoffman’s “agenda leading stories” and “new take on old well-trodden topics” secured his place as this year’s winner.

Highlighting his story on council tax in the pandemic, which went on to be debated in Parliament, the judges also commended Marc’s ability to “power through” in a challenging year, and “deliver stories that led to real changes”.
