In a close category, The Telegraph’s Ruby Hinchliffe impressed our panel of judges, who complimented her “relevant, interesting and topical” articles, describing Ruby as “an excellent investigative journalist, not afraid to tackle divisive subjects”.

Her piece on brokers overcharging borrowers stood out in particular for the judges, who commented that “it's fresh, bold and original and shows her ability to break out of the predictable to bring new insight into a topic, leaving her readers with a clear understanding of the issues”.
