Unsurprisingly this category is always competitive with numerous journalists submitting initial entries. Getting onto the shortlist is an achievement in itself, and after the first phase of scoring, three names had pulled a little way ahead. When the judges convened for the second time, Katie Morley of Telegraph Media Group emerged as the winner for the second year in a row.

As one judge pointed out, Katie “goes to astonishing lengths to help customers.... (I’m) in awe of the time she spends resolving issues”. “A great example of protecting vulnerable consumers and holding business to account. Methodical, unbiased and effective reporting,“ a second judge commented.
