Local/Regional Journalist of the Year

Skipton Building Society's Rebecca Willey, collects the Award on behalf of Greg Wright, from Freelance & Property & Finance Commentator's Anne Ashworth and Awards Host Marcus Brigstocke

WINNER: GREG WRIGHT, THE YORKSHIRE POST

After the initial online scoring, there was little between the five shortlistees leaving plenty to debate in the judging session. In the end congratulations go to a previous winner in this category, The Yorkshire Post’s Greg Wright.

Judges commended Greg’s “hard hitting journalism”, and how he “tackles important topics and asks those difficult questions.”

Praise was given for the “good variety of work submitted” in his entry.

HIGHLY COMMENDED: JONATHAN GIBSON, BBC BIRMINGHAM

Commiserations to Jonathan Gibson for just missing out on this occasion. One judge noted Jonathan’s “hard hitting local journalism went national”, with his investigation on the illegal use of low tax fuel meant for farm vehicles.
