WINNER: KATHERINE DENHAM, THE TIMES AND THE SUNDAY TIMES

This category became a close-run affair, sparking lots of debate amongst the judging panel.  On further scrutiny they awarded the trophy to The Times and The Sunday Times’ Katherine Denham, with judges praising her work as “thoroughly researched and packed with information”. “The full package,” remarked one judge.

The judges applauded Tanya’s work on women’s state pensions, recognising her “clear and punchy articulation of an important issue without over sensationalising”. “Great example of classic investigational journalism,” commented another judge.
