Rising Star of the Year (Consumer)

The whole point about the Headlinemoney Awards is that they shine a spotlight on the best of the best within financial media. As it turned out this category was, by common consent, the trickiest one of all from which to pick a winner: the depth and quality of the shortlist was that good. This was reflected after the first round of judging where four of the six contenders each scored strongly. After much deeper deliberation. a winner eventually emerged in the shape of This is Money’s Will Kirkman.

“Will’s submissions were really impressive and demonstrated great range as well as highlighting his already considerable reporting skills,” one judge commented. “His submissions were excellent from a journalistic perspective. The stories combined that all-important combination of being original, thought-provoking and interesting. On top of that they were right on point for his consumer audience with plenty of sensible advice and useful information,” a second judge added.
