Daily Mail's Miles Dilworth collects his trophy from Managing Director of Metropolis Financial Platforms Piers Johnson and Awards Host Marcus Brigstocke

The judges were hugely impressed by the quality of entries on this shortlist. As one judge put it, “the future of personal finance journalism looks bright”. The journalism on show meant it was a tricky category to judge, sparking a lengthy debate. In the end the judges agreed on Miles Dilworth of the Daily Mail as the winner.

As one judge remarked, “these stories would clearly leave the reader better informed ...and would put pressure on those with the power to take action to do so”. Another commended him on his “investigative work” and the “revelatory angle to his writing”.

Commiserations to Jessica who was just pipped at the post for top honours this year. According to one of the judges hers was “Another entry that makes me feel very confident about the future for financial reporting!”. Another commented that she “understands how to bring stories to life".
