WINNER: RACHEL RICKARD STRAUS, THE MAIL ON SUNDAY
With such a strong shortlist, it was a challenge to agree the winner for this category. In the end, it was The Mail on Sunday’s Rachel Rickard Straus who took the trophy.
“Three great topical pieces with the kind of human touch that goes down well with her readers,” one judge commented. A second judge added: “Rachel is a beautiful writer... delivering unconventional twists on savings stories.”
A third judge praised Rachel’s story: “The town that has ten bank branches” as “the perfect personal finance story - she visited Hounslow, talked to everyone and showed the banks are lying about people not wanting to go to branches.”
