Headlinemoney Journalist of the Year 2026
Winner
Charlotte Gifford, The Telegraph
As always, Headlinemoney’s Journalist of the Year is a winner who’s done something that little bit extra to stand out from all the other superb category winners and shortlisted journalists.
This year, the highly regarded trophy goes to The Telegraph’s Charlotte Gifford. After being shortlisted in three categories, Charlotte went on to win two well-deserved awards, Consumer Money Journalist of the Year and Savings Journalist of the Year, in addition to earning a Highly Commended.
Across successive judging panels, Charlotte’s work was described by judges as “timely and compelling” and “demonstrating exceptional sensitivity”. “She goes beyond surface reporting,” explained one judge, praising the inclusion of “highly compelling human angles to bring technical financial issues to life”. “Charlotte's work demonstrates determined, impactful consumer journalism that exposes injustice and drives reform… her stories have resulted in genuine change,” added another.
