Mortgage & Property Journalist of the Year (Consumer) 2026

Winner

Jack Simpson, The Times & Sunday Times

This was a close, challenging category for the judges, with Jack emerging as the winner for the range and depth of a series of well-researched stories.

“Jack takes initiative and puts in the work to deliver stories that are heartwarming and which also go viral and create conversation,” commented one judge. “All of the stories used very good case studies to make complex issues digestible and engaging. He understands just how important property issues are to his readers and addresses their issues with skill and panache,” another added.

Highly Commended

Aasma Day, The i Paper

One of the difficult decisions in this category saw Aasma awarded a Highly Commended for a set of personal interest stories that were really well written.

“This journalist creates a series which is relevant to most consumers. They bring complex issues to life,” praised one judge.
