The awards are split into two sections: one for financial journalists and the titles they work for, the other for PR and communications professionals supporting the financial media sector.

Journalism Categories

The Awards comprise categories both for individual journalists (consumer and B2B) as well as media outlets covering different aspects of the financial marketplace.

We have a new entry system for 2022 which means the entry process has changed very slightly. To submit your entry, please follow the steps below:

  • Visit the Award categories page and select the category/ies that you’d like to enter

  • You will then be asked to create an account. Please note that as we are using a new system this year you will need to create a new account even if you have submitted for the Awards in the past, or have an account on Headlinemoney.co.uk

  • You will then be taken through to a basket page (all entries are free to submit). The category/ies that you have selected will appear under the ‘Awards Nomination’ heading and you can complete the required information entry information.

  • You can then ‘Continue’ at the bottom of the page to proceed through the entry basket process.

  • You will receive a confirmation email from the system once your entry has been successfully submitted.

Please contact Charlotte Covey-Crump with any queries.

For each entry, you will be asked to submit a 250-word supporting statement, as well as up to three examples of work. Please note, if you are entering one of the ‘Story of the Year’ categories, only one story example is required.

Please include a relevant image with your entry. For example:

  • If you’re entering Blogger of the Year or a Title of the Year category, please provide a screenshot of your website or PDF of one front cover

  • If you’re entering an individual or Story of the Year category, please provide a headshot (a high-resolution jpeg, as close to 1920x1080 pixels as possible)

All journalism entries must be submitted by Friday 4 February 2022.

All categories are FREE to enter.

Items of work must have appeared in the calendar year 2021.

The journalism shortlist will be announced via twitter and the Headlinemoney Awards website in March 2022.

The process to decide all the category winners is carried out by more than a hundred judges comprising senior financial journalists, editors and PRs drawn from around the UK’s financial media, during an extensive phase of judging in Spring/Summer 2022.

All categories are FREE to enter.

Unless stated, the Awards cover the calendar year 2021.

Yes, but ONLY in the ‘Expert of the Year’ category, where we’re happy to receive entries from third parties making a nomination on an individual’s behalf as well as direct from commentators themselves. (For example, a press officer making a nomination on behalf of an expert from the same company for whom they’ve achieved airtime).

Entries in each category will be scrutinised by a panel of judges from the financial services media. The judges will compile shortlists for each of the six PR categories and the winners will ultimately be decided by the financial press via an online vote.

There are no hard-and-fast rules about what makes a great entry in each of these categories. But bear in mind that it’s the financial press that has the final say in the decision-making. Ultimately, the aim is to impress on the judges your communications expertise when it comes to working with the financial press.

Evidence of dedication, professionalism, reputation for efficiency, quality of story/campaign, ability to deploy experts at short notice, and an understanding of a journalist’s particular audience, are some of the factors that will doubtless contribute to the final decisions.

This is your chance to tell journalists about your media relations strengths and achievements over the past year!

The PR shortlist will be announced via twitter and the Headlinemoney Awards website in March 2022.
